This is a beautiful book. I’ve loved George Winston for many years, especially the December album. I couldn’t find it transcribed for piano but Thanksgiving is in this selection. It’s good value for money. I like that the transcriptions have been well done and reflect George Winston’s own interpretations. Indeed some are quite challenging to play! I will get hours of joy from this book.

Una colección de excelentes transcripciones de algunos temas muy conocidos y otros que no tanto, pertenecientes a distintas épocas de la carrera de George Winston, y todos con su toque único. Son transcripciones bastante precisas de las grabaciones publicadas en forma de disco en su momento, pero el propio Winston en el prólogo invita a los intérpretes a improvisar libremente a partir de ellas.

If you are a fan of George Winston, and you enjoy playing piano, then I highly recommend this songbook. While it might not have your particular favorite Winston song (he has so many), this book has a wide range of songs from several different albums. Unfortunately, none of his Vince Guaraldi songs are transcribed in this book. Most of the songs that are transcribed tend to be his simpler compositions (with a few notable exceptions), and for the most part, they are faithfully transcribed (and not abridged). Of course, the real challenge in playing Winston is capturing the "soul" and "feel" of his music, which is elusive even if the song is relatively simple. Good luck!

Ein wirklich schönes Notenbuch! Die einzelnen Stücke sind gut gesetzt, klingen wunderschön und sind nicht ohne Anspruch. Als geübte Klavierspielerin ärgere ich mich oft darüber, dass Stücke in vereinfachter Version abgedruckt werden und dementsprechend simpel klingen - das ist hier nicht der Fall. Für fortgeschrittene Pianisten, die New Age Musik mögen, ist diese Notensammlung absolut empfehlenswert.
