I had to swap the alternator out on my car and there was just enough room to get this spanner on to the tensioner bolt head. Nothing else I had came close. This is a decently long, flat spanner. Neither end is angled unlike regular spanners. If you're space restricted and need a long reach or more leverage (or both) then this works well. I have a 15mm long swan neck but there was no chance of getting that on, the gap between the tensioner and the frame was about 15mm. Even this one only just fit and it's flat! I found my tensioner to still be very stiff even with the extra length for leverage, so a regular length spanner has no chance. The ratchet end is what you'd expect from a Draper brand tool: it ratchets. I've not tested it on anything sturdy and I probably never will. It's functional, it works, but the difference between this and a quality brand is clear. I've got some nice ratcheting spanners and you can feel the difference, but I don't want to sell this one short. It works, or at least mine does. The finish is decent, it does the job, and when you're stuck with very specific needs for tooling that can fit in to some very restricted space then the price tag for a single spanner suddenly becomes good value. Without this or something similar I'd never be able to get that tensioner released and I'd be stuck with an alternatorless car. I'm sure in the years to come the three or four more times I'm ever likely to need to use this again I'll be happy to have it, and the fact that this has saved me a trip to a mechanic means it's already paid for itself many times over.Given my use case for it I can't think of anything I'd change, so for that it's got to score full marks. Just make sure you're buying the right size if you're only buying one!
